E-learning is launching in DPOrganizer

Training modules

This time of year, we turn our thoughts to the summer holidays. Days in a park, sandy beaches, lakes and mountains all seem within reach as the children come to the end of another school year.

Most academic years are wrapped up with tests or exams and students of all ages do their revision, practise their learnings to get the best grades or results they possibly can. This has made me think about our professional revision, what do we do to remind ourselves or our teams of what we have learned?

It’s been a while since I did my Data Protection Practitioners qualification. At the time I was new to the space and my fantastic lecturer put up with question after question as I worked my way through the course (thank you “N” if you are reading this!) and I passed with a not too shabby mark (phew!).

I’ve kept up my learning with webinars and conferences but this week I have gone back to basics and worked through the training courses that are available as part of the DPOrganizer package. Now that I have some actual data protection experience under my belt it’s been incredibly useful to have these courses on hand to revisit my knowledge. I’ve refreshed my memory, challenged my thinking, and picked up nuggets of information that I had forgotten since my course.

As well as our topping up our own knowledge, It’s also important that our colleagues receive some “refresher training” too. Training can come in all shapes and sizes; awareness is as crucial as training itself. Do you run awareness sessions? Do you post interesting /novel articles on your organisation’s intranet? Do you hold workshops to look at “Data Protection in Action” in addition to your annual training? Do you work with Champions to be flying the data protection flag when you are not in the meeting? Do you keep their knowledge up to date?

With over 20 different courses available “on demand” the DPOrganizer tool is a great way to dip in and out of learning, for you, your teams, your champions and your colleagues.

For many of us the summer holiday period is a quieter time of year and a perfect time to “top up your tuition”. How will you ensure your knowledge is fresh and up to date? Equally, how will you ensure your co-workers keep up to date too?
