The European Court of Justice (ECJ) rules against an order to suspend the implementation of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, CNIL publishes first in a series of guidelines on the use of AI, Norwegian supervisory authority issues a press release about advertising on Facebook.

As DPOrganizer reported in September, in less than two months after the European Commission and the U.S. government had approved the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, it was challenged before the European Union’s General Court by a French lawmaker Philippe Latombe.

Now, as IAPP reports, the court “ruled against interim measures to pause the implementation of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The court said Latombe cannot prove the individual or collective harm the agreement raises”. Thus, there is no need to urgently suspend the Data Privacy Framework. Click here to learn more.

The French data protection authority (the CNIL) has published a set of dedicated resources which cover challenges of AI in relation to privacy and data protection and to help professionals comply with the law.

According to the official press-release, “this content is intended for the professionals (data controllers or processors) implementing personal data processing based on AI systems, or wishing to do so, and who are wondering how to comply with the GDPR”.

For now, two guidelines are published in this regard – “AI: ensuring GDPR compliance” and “Self-assessment guide for artificial intelligence (AI) systems”.  Click here to learn more.

As a follow-up to the temporary ban imposed on Meta’s online behavioral advertising, Norwegian supervisory authority (Datatilsynet) has issued a press release about advertising on Facebook. 

Datatilsynet has stressed that Meta is not prevented “from showing behaviour-based marketing to users who give valid consent to it”, nor does Datatilsynet prohibits “personalized marketing on Facebook as such. Meta can, for example, target marketing based on information that users enter on their profile, such as place of residence, gender and age, or interests that users themselves state that they want to see marketing about”.
