Barry is a leading AI law expert and a senior solicitor in the Technology Group of top-ranked law firm, William Fry. Barry’s work concentrates on helping companies implement responsible AI frameworks, and advising companies on AI issues in areas such as data protection, contracts, and intellectual property, in addition to mitigating legal risks of AI implementation. Given his expertise in copyright law and his technical knowledge of AI systems, Barry is very focused on AI and IP issues, particularly text and data mining, machine learning and IP infringement, and ownership of AI outputs. Barry is highly specialised in the media and entertainment space in the area of AI and copyright, a subject on which he is completing a PhD, and advises high profile international music industry organisations on AI issues. He is a member of the Law Society of Ireland’s IP, Technology & Data Protection Law Committee. Barry was recently appointed by the Irish government to the AI Advisory Council.
