Celebrating Data Protection Day

January 28 is Data Protection day. The purpose of this annual celebration is to promote awareness and privacy best practices.

In honor of this day, we have some exciting news.

Transparency is one of the key pillars of the GDPR.

Without it, individuals cannot understand and decide how their data should be processed. Therefore, they cannot be in control of their own information.

GDPR gives individuals the tools to exercise their right to privacy – an important step in empowering people. But more individuals exercising their rights will mean more resources demanded from companies.

We celebrate this day by releasing Transparency Widget – a tool to help companies and organisations increase trust and transparency with their customers and employees.

It is also a tool that helps businesses save time and decrease costs in the long-term. Questions are dealt with before they become concerns, automatically through your website. Learn more about the Transparency Widget here.

We hope 2018 will be a year where we start talking more about what it means to respect and improve relationships with customers and employees. Regardless of GDPR, it is time that all businesses that process personal data take responsibility for what they do, and are transparent about it.

Let’s start talking about the individual and respect for personal integrity, rather than only compliance and fines.

So we hope this year is not only the year that GDPR is enforced.

We also hope it is the year we stop focusing on how burdensome GDPR is for companies, and instead focus on how it will help individuals exercise their basic human rights.

Best regards,

Egil Bergenlind,
